REVIEW OF RECENT EVENTS

FILM NIGHT

“HEAVEN IS FOR REAL”

A little boy is seriously ill; when he recovers, he recounts strange experiences in Heaven – meeting Jesus, who has “markers” on His hands and feet (he has never seen an image of Jesus crucified), his long-dead grandfather, and a sister he didn’t know of, who told him she had “died in their mother’s tummy”. His childlike observations and innocent demeanour bewilder his family and people who hear of his encounters, but they cannot doubt his sincerity and guilelessness, and reluctantly perhaps begin to believe him. Greg Kinnear gives an excellent portrayal as his bemused father, with stellar support from Kelly Reilly, Thomas Haden Church, Margo Martindale and, most impressively, Connor Corum as the boy. Once again we thank projectionist Paddy Kelly and Eileen Murphy who provided the lovely supper.
