ST. PATRICK'S DAY
Green and gold were the dominant colour
at St.Patrick's Party; the Club was tastefully decorated with
shamrocks and bunting, compliments of Tommy's skills. Also some
members and their friends wore these colour to celebrate this special
event in the Irish calendar.
The Club was a hubbub of party
atmosphere as Paddy Kelly, our DJ, wasted no time in getting the
dancing started with old-time waltzes and lively ceili music.
There was an interval when we raised
our voices to sing 'Hail Glorious St.Patrick, a suitable tribute to
our Patron Saint, on his special day.
We had a toast to celebrate the
occasion with glasses of wine and orange juice served. Then we had a
raffle as Teresa O'Hehir had sold tickets, with some very nice prizes
for lucky winners.
We enjoyed a lovely supper of
sandwiches, scones, cakes and juicy apple tart, thanks to Cait baking
skills.
With no shortage of enthusiastic
dancers, the party spirit continued throughout the evening, and the
energy levels flowed consistently.
Like all good things, with everyone
having a good time, the party ended too soon, happily on a high note.
Many thanks to our Committee members
who gave us such an enjoyable St.Patrick's Party.

FILM – 'HARVEY'
James Stewart plays an amiable
eccentric for whom “every day is a beautiful day”. Of his
mother's advice “Be smart or be pleasant” he says “I tried
smart; pleasant is better”. But unwittingly he causes problems for
others. Many interesting and odd things happen, before a lovely
thought-provoking ending. Our film night closed with a grand
supper. Thanks to projectionist Paddy Kelly and all who helped make it
so pleasant for us.
