In this 400th anniversary year of Shakespeare’s death, our “Midsummer Night’s Dream” of a fine summer continues.
We particularly hope for a sunny day for our ANNUAL BUS OUTING on SUNDAY, JULY l0th. Our destination is CARLINGFORD, Co. Louth, the Club’s first time for this venue, we believe. It has lovely scenery, with views of the Cooley Peninsula and Mountains of Mourne, picturesque old Castle ruins, and some nice restaurants and shops.
We’ll have a 4-course lunch in the Carlingford Arms, DV, and explore the area before we head for Ardgillan Castle near Balbriggan, where we may enjoy a picnic and roam the grounds. We plan to leave from the city centre at llam, and be back in Dublin around 8pm. The all-in fare is E35, same as last year. We meet at ANN’S BAKERY, NORTH EARL ST, DUBLIN l - formerly the EARL CAFÉ, our Club home for the last 2 years – where you may like to relax or freshen up before we proceed to the bus departure point nearby. The exact location is hard to forecast because of disruption caused by LUAS works. If you would like to come, please tell any member of our Executive Committee as soon as possible. Your friends will be very welcome too.
THE HOLY SACRIFICE OF MASS FOR THE SOULS OF CLUB FOUNDER MEMBERS EILEEN AND MARTIN COEN (RIP) WILL BE OFFERED IN HOLY SPIRIT CHURCH, GREENHILLS, DUBLIN l2, ON SATURDAY JULY l6TH AT 6.30PM, DV.
Our regular events continue in our pleasant new base, “LIFE HOUSE”, 6, GARDINER PLACE, DUBLIN l, (close to the well-known Barry’s Hotel). We’ll be pleased to welcome any members and friends who haven’t yet joined us there, - soon, DV.
