REVIEW OF RECENT EVENTS

 FILM NIGHT:   “SPRING PARADE”

Spring was in the air, if not quite everywhere, when we gathered to view the Club’s latest film

offering. It was a real charmer, set in old-time Vienna, with Deanna Durbin in top vocal form,

and lovely old songs – “Waltzing in the Clouds”, “When April Sings”, “It’s Foolish but It’s Fun”,

all by Robert Stolz, and “The Blue Danube” by the “Waltz King” Johann Strauss. Sterling support was

provided by Robert Cummings, S.Z. Sakall (known as (Cuddles)”, Anne Gwynne, Mischa Auer and Henry StephenThe scenery, settings and costumes wereimpressive – and would have looked even more so in colour, no doubt; the plot was diverting, and kept us all entertainedOnce again Paddy Kelly did the honours as projectionist. A splendid supper followed, prepared by Eileen Murphy and

Tommy Ward, and we hummed our way home in the afterglow.
