REVIEW OF RECENT EVENTS:

 FILM “THE PICKWICK PAPERS”

One of Ealing Studio’s series of comedies, based
on Charles Dickens’s novel about an eccentric group
of gentlemen in Victorian times, with a fine cast
of British character actors and an amusing sequence
of events and situations that some of the “Pickwick
Club” members get into. Customs and attitudes – and
language - of the period combine to delineate times
and lifestyles that have long vanished, but human
nature hasn’t changed much since. James Hayter made
an amiable Mr Pickwick, with sterling support from
Nigel Patrick, Kathleen Harrison and James Donald
among others. All good clean fun, made possible by
projectionist Paddy Kelly, with a tasty supper by
Eileen Murphy to complete the night’s entertainment.
Our Club is fortunate to have such great helpers.
