Film “Emma”
Rich, young and attractive, Emma does
not lack suitors, but she prefers to make a match for her friends. Her
choices are not wise, so plans go awry. Lovely settings, period
costumes, Jane Austen's characters and clever dialogue keep is
intrigued throughout. Stars Kate Beckinsale, Mark String, Samantha
Morton and Prunella Scales entertained us all. Once again we thank
projectionist Paddy Kelly, and Teresa (T) and tommy for the pleasant
supper.

Weekend Break in Waterford City
After an initial hiccup of 2 missed
trains, all 6 Cyril, Jim, David, Daniela, Teresa and Paddy, were by
9pm safely accounted for and, ensconced in the very comfortable
Portree Guest House, tool to the town on a lovely night for a meal.
Saturday saw us go to Bl. Edmund Rice centre for great accounts of
his life's work founding Irish Christian Brothers to educate the
young. After a fine lunch, Reginald's Tower and nearby Greyfriars
Abbey held our deep attention, both played a big part in the city's
history. Some if us enjoyed a Ballad Session that night. After Sunday
Mass most of us took trains home, Paddy Last later after viewing the
flood set-up along the great River Suir and a visit to Bishop's
Palace. Thanks, Teresa, for organising the break.
Paddy Kelly
