Christmas Party
It was great to see so many at the
christmas Party, and to meet again several who were 'absent friends'
for a while. The premises were tastefully decorated in seasonable
style; pride of place must go to the beautiful illuminated Crib. Our
party-goers were specially dressed for the occasion. The MC/DJ for
the night was Paddy Kelly, and he did a fine job. There was dance
music to suit all tastes, and the floor was filled for much of the
time.
There was a magnificent supper of party
fare; the turkey and ham sandwiches “went down a treat”, as you
would expect, accompanied by Tommy's tasty tea. For those of us with
a sweet tooth or two though, the “pieces de resistance” had to be
Caits delicious Christmas Cake and mince pies.
There was a raffle for some terrific
prizes, and the lucky winners were very pleases when their tickets,
ably sold by Teresa O' Hehir, were drawn.
Then Paddy launched his new recording-
one of his own songs, intriduced ar a recent 'Come-All-Ye” to great
acclaim, called “The Cat's Away”. The CD has a cover photo of a
gorgeous ginger cat, and Paddy does a most convincing “purr”; on
the record he accompanies himself on the guitar, and there's gentle
accordion backing played by Teresa Talbot.
We had a lovely session of Christmas
Carols, With everyone joining in, and a few entrancing solos- David
Spain's powerful 'O Holy Night', and Teresa gave us Michael Head's
effective 'Little Road to Bethlehem'. What a pity the night had to
end!
A big 'Thank you' to all who organized,
came, or helped in any way to make it so memorable.
