This month we have the two most important events in the Club's calender. The first, the Club's 42^nd Birthday Dinner-Dance, will be on Saturday October 20^th in Maple House Hotel, Iona Road, Glasnevin, Dublin 9; we'll have a 4-course meal, superb in previous years; the Birthday Cake is once again in Cait Clynch's expert hands, John Kelly's Band is booked to play the dance music, there will be Raffle and Spot Prizes, and warm friendly atmosphere. Tickets are available from Executive Committee members ( €40, same as before). Please book as soon as you can; pay by instalment, if you like. Your friends will be welcome, too,- the more the merrier!

The Club's Annual General Meeting will follow on wed October 24^th. That night the members present will elect a new Executive Committee to help run the Club for the next year. A form is enclosed on which to nominate to the Committee. You may propose ONE member only, but you can second more than one, and ask other members to nominate those who are willing to serve, attend monthly meetings and help organise and/ or run functions. Proposals on the club's future are made and decisions taken which may have far-reaching effects. The views of every member are needed so those decisions will represent your wishes; the only way to make them know is to come to the meeting and express them. No one else can take your place; your input may be just what the Club needs. The Closing Date for nominations is Sat OCT 6^th. NOMAINATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THR AGM. Please hand completed forms to any member of the present Committee.
