Review of recent events

The ABC Club had its 41st Annual Birthday Dinner-Dance in the Maples Hotel, Drumcondra.

The 4-course dinner consisted of vegetable soup, followed by roast stuffed turkey and ham with vegetables. Dessert was apple tart and cream, and then tea and alice of Cait's delicious Birthday Cake which went down a treat. We danced to the John Kelly Band and enjoyed old-time waltzes, quick-step, fox-trots, to name but a few...

There was a raffles for several lovely prizes and many spot prizes too for ladies and men. We had a few good singers whose songs entertained us. If you were there we hope you enjoyed yourself- if you weren't you missed a great night!

Many thanks to Cait for baking the cake and organising the raffle, and to those who helped in any way, and also to all who supported this wonderful event.

Annual General Meeting

The members who attended the AGM were welcomed by Chairperson Teresa Talbot. Secretary Paddy Kelly reported on the previous AGM; his comprehensive account of the year's activities was praised by his predecessor Cait Clynch. Special events recalled were paid to Patsy Collins and Dolores Dempsey who ran the successful January Sale, and agreed to do another in 2012, DV, and to Cait who organises the Bring&Buy Straw Draw and other Raffles, host monthly “Come-All-Te” and serves lovely home baked suppers. Tommy Ward's hard work as House Manager – and Chief Tea-Maker is much appreciated, as are the efforts of treasurer Stephen Shrahan and Assistant Cyril Hynes who gave the Financial Report. All the Committee were declared re-elected, and everyone who helped the club, especially league of blind who put on our Table Quiz in April. Tommy's tea ended the night very pleasantly.
