ANNUAL BUS OUTING
This year’s Bus Outing is being planned for Sunday July l0th. As on previous occasions, we intend to
leave the city centre at llam and return around 8pm, DV. Our proposed destination is Carlingford,
in Co. Louth’s Cooley Peninsula. The scenery there is very pretty, with views of Carlingford Lough and the backdrop of the Mourne Mountains.
There will be a 4-course meal in one of the local Restaurants, and an opportunity to admire the sights, which include the ruins of 2 castles, King John’s dating from l2l0, and Taaffe’s, built around l600. The possibility of visiting another venue on our way home is being considered, for a picnic or teatime snack – maybe Ardgillan Park, near Balbriggan, which also has a Castle (not a ruin ) if time permits.
The price is E35, the same as last year. If you like, you can pay by instalments. Your friends will be welcome to join us, so do invite them. You can book by giving your name to any member of the Executive Committee – as soon as you can, please. We look forward to meeting up with as many of our members and friends as possible.
WEEKEND BREAK
Suggestions are invited for the Club’s Annual Weekend Break in August. We’ve had many enjoyable
visits to different parts of the country in the past, and we hope to arrange another this year, DV. Let us know if you would like to come. As we await the “lazy, crazy hazy days of summer” and anticipate the warm sunshine we used to experience in the years when we had summer weather worthy of the season - before the discovery – or invention? - of “global warming”, this sonnet by Keats comes to mind, evoking that longed-for bliss of relaxing in the sun with a much-loved book and admiring the beautiful sounds and sights of Nature.
