REVIEW OF RECENT EVENTS

NEW YEAR PARTY

Our last function of 20l5 coincided with the closing of the EARL Restaurant, so we had mixed feelings as we gathered there for the Club’s New Year Party. We managed to put aside the sadness  of “the parting of the ways”, and enjoy the dance music of DJ Paddy Kelly, which was excellent as expected. There was marvellous party food – turkey and ham sandwiches, Cait’s yummy Christmas cake and mince pies, followed by sumptuous trifle and cream, courtesy of Eileen Murphy and Teresa Talbot, while Tommy’s glass of wine or orange went down a treat as well. Our star ticket-seller Teresa O’Hehir did the honours for the raffle for some lovely prizes, so the winners had another reason to celebrate.

Once again our thanks are due to everyone who came and helped in various ways to make the night so pleasant. We looked back at the Old Year and forward to whatever the New Year will bring, with whatever blessings the Lord will bestow on us in our new abode.

FILM NIGHT:  “THE BANDIT OF SHERWOOD FOREST”

A stirring tale of derring-do and adventure, with stunning sword-play and astonishing archery feats, as Robin Hood’s son joins his father and the Merry Men of yore to save the kingdom from treachery and the Queen and beautiful Lady Catherine from evil. Cornel Wilde and Anita Louise led a fine cast, and entertained us mightily. Paddy Kelly was again the excellent projectionist, while Eileen Murphy provided the pleasant supper, and Tommy the tea; our deepest thanks to them.
