Being guided around the Rock Cashel (and audio-visual showing), Holy Cross Abbey with its wonderful relic of the True Cross, (by a team of 7 guides) and the Folk Museum, it was a lot to take in, butthe guides brought the places and events to life for us. It's quite a feat to have restored the abbey back to being a living place of worship, proof is a newer church is now a centre for the community. The weather (bar one shower) was kind to us, the locals were happy to have us pedestrians was notable- our Guest House most comfortable, our host- including Manus's new-found canine friend Tipsy and the staff at Morelli's Italian Cafe. The stout Guinness was first brewed in Cashel. Who do you think figures in Holy Cross- Padre Pio, now St Pio. Thank you, Teresa, for arranging a nice weekend away.
