Review of Recent Events Weekend Break

Our Annual Weekend away this year was to the historic “cashel of kings”, where Brian Boru, among other Kings of Munster, was crowned, and King Aongus baptised by St Patrick. Great friend of the Club and “man at the controls” of the Club's weekly radio slot on WDAR, davd Spain, and Table Quizzer Manus Patton joined Teresa (T), Cyril, Jim and Paddy.

Being guided around the Rock Cashel (and audio-visual showing), Holy Cross Abbey with its wonderful relic of the True Cross, (by a team of 7 guides) and the Folk Museum, it was a lot to take in, butthe guides brought the places and events to life for us. It's quite a feat to have restored the abbey back to being a living place of worship, proof is a newer church is now a centre for the community. The weather (bar one shower) was kind to us, the locals were happy to have us pedestrians was notable- our Guest House most comfortable, our host- including Manus's new-found canine friend Tipsy and the staff at Morelli's Italian Cafe. The stout Guinness was first brewed in Cashel. Who do you think figures in Holy Cross- Padre Pio, now St Pio. Thank you, Teresa, for arranging a nice weekend away.
