Review of Recent Events

Ash Wednesday Mass

It was stormy, cold and wet- traffic and city life rushed by outside but nothing disturbed our peaceful setting- it was a good feeling to be in a special place on a special day. It was Ash Wednesday and the Mass was celebrated by Fr.Blake; our living and deceased relatives were remembered. The daffodils on the alter were remembered of new beginnings and change that are a constant in all lives.
Quietly form a corner beautiful music blended with voice in hymns. Blessed Ashes were distributed- Lent had begun.
Refreshments were provided, and then began our lively discussion on where the Summer Outing would take us, among other topics.
Thanks to all who attended and those who took time out of their busy lives to prepare and make special another evening in our calender of events.

Visit to National Gallery

we took in the lecture by Dr M Stout in Diego Rivera's depiction of the Conquest of Mexico- "The Disembarkation of Cortes". He aimed at bringing out points the accompanied these events down through history. We then viewed the Apocalyptic "Opening of the Seventh Seal" by Francis Danby; on seeing it one is moved: what i sit?: why and where? We saw works by other Irish painters. I was taken by "Rye Waters" too. How the artist is something else. We spied Hickey's "Indian Women" and marvelled at it all. I noticed a mobile phone in her hand! I joke, it may be a comb or fan but to Teresa it could be a laptop component! We had lovely coffee in Kilkenny Shop and recaptured some of the sights we'd viewed.
